NORTH CLARK, LOS ALTOS

This landscape was a collaborative effort, with the owners, to create a natural feeling and plantings that attract birds and butterflies, focusing on natives and Mediterranean plants. The new house (built on the lot the owners had lived on for over 20 years) was sited at an angle on the property, offering a unique design opportunity of an expanded rear yard. The 16’ windows/doors in the living room, facing the rear yard, offer a landscape “painting,” featuring a curved stone seatwall, trellis, ceramic fountain, paths planted with thyme and pots with dwarf Citrus, surrounded by flowing, colorful plantings incorporating many textures.
